Bible Study

Every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM the people of St. John’s gather to study and reflect on scripture. Our Bible study is always based on the text that will be preached on in worship.

At St. John’s we believe the Holy Spirit works through all of us. Preaching is (hopefully) less a monologue and more a conversation between God, the preacher, and the congregation. The interpretation of Scripture is the work of the whole church, therefore we go about this serious work together in order to help the person preaching prepare for Sunday worship.

Beyond preparing for Sunday, we hope that through our time together on Wednesday nights we will be continually formed and shaped into the people God is calling us to be. Our time is not just about study – it is about transformation and growing to maturity in Christ. We hope to listen to each other as well as we listen to the texts.
